Ramnaumi Satsang 2008

A Festive Celebration of the Birth of Lord Rama

“This is the most beautiful thing about Lord Rama: all the people around him were able to learn how to live perfectly by observing him—the way he moved, talked, and loved others. Through his actions, he taught people values… Everything is taught by example. This is why Lord Rama’s example of ideal action is so important. His life story will live on for thousands and thousands of years and forever to teach humankind.”

—Swami Sai Premananda

Lord Ramachandra of Ayodhya, an incarnation of Maha Vishnu, was born in the Treta Yuga, when awareness of right conduct was diminishing in humankind. Sri Rama was the embodiment of Absolute dharma (righteousness) in human form. Rama’s every thought, word, and action was endowed with the beauty of right conduct, an example and lesson for all to strive for. Lord Rama victoriously defeated the demon king Ravana who symbolizes the darkness within and lack of harmony in thought, word, and action. Sri Rama restored peace and balance once more to the world.
